Over ten years ago, CIPAC grew out of the desires of Dick Hellman,

to speak out on behalf of Israel and the Jewish people from a biblical

perspective, for Christians primarily, and for official Washington:

Members of Congress, the Senators and Representatives, the President,

the Secretary of State and the other officials of the executive branch.                            

While he lived in Israel for seven years and learned about the situation, Dick realized that very little about this was known in Washington.  People in Washington did not appreciate or understand Israel, much less did people at the grassroots across America understand Israel's serious predicament in the Middle East today.

Dick had the opportunity to testify in the Senate and the House regarding legislation to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.  He also had other opportunities, in Geneva, for example, to serve as a truth squad while Yassar Arafat was impressing the General Assembly of the United Nations.

He felt that only with a full-fledged Christian lobby, CIPAC, could we really impact Washington and mobilize American Christians throughout the country to understand Israel, to know it, and to support it.

CIPAC lobbies on Capitol Hill every day.  We work with the Senate and the House of Representatives, and with officials in the executive branch, as well.  Then we communicate the information that we learn to the grassroots, and Christians from across America contact their elected Senators and Representatives.  This way, we have an impact for solid policies that support Israel on biblical grounds.
